These four songs were recorded June 17, 2023 in Weiser, Idaho. I was at the National Old Time Fiddlers Convention, specifically hanging out in Stickerville, absorbing tunes from buddies and elders and having a general good time. The campground of the festival surrounds a few beautiful 120 year old buildings that used to house an an agricultural and industrial institute. In one of those buildings, Slocum Hall, Aaron Jennings was set up in a small room with a fairly legitimate makeshift recording studio, a couple restored ribbon mics, and a gorgeous 1940's Presto record cutting lathe. He generously recorded lots of folks onsite, and cut one of a kind records for each session. This recording is the result of my brief time in that room. I want to express my gratitude to Aaron for being inspired to learn to cut records in the first place, and having the awesome idea to bring his whole setup out across state lines to an old building in a dusty field to capture some of the moments there. It's totally inspiring, and without that gumption, this recording wouldn't exist at all. Thanks!
